Overconfidence costed India the match
Low score in an innings is understandable..To any strong team it is quite usual. But after aussies scored 285 in second innings, it’s an absolute crime by Team Inida to collapse for just 107. Pressure will be paramiunt when the target is high in fourth innings. When defeat becomes a mere formality, it would be nice to lose with some pride. There arise an ambiguity among spectators
Had India won the toss?
Toss played a key role in this match. Pune’s track has turned spinner friendly from day 2. Day 1 did not assist spinners on Day 1. Had India batted first ,They might have posted a respectable total. This could have dismissed Australia cheaply in second innings of the match. Australia were able to put pressure after gaining upper hand in first innings. There has been debate that result would have opposite had India won the toss. In the last series Australia lost all the four match after winning the toss. India’s hopes of winning the series is not completely over though they lost first test. India faced tough situations in the first test against England also and drew the test match. This defeat would definitely make Indian team alert. India’s chances of winning the series cannot be ruled out yet.
The pitch usually assists Home side. India were all-out twice in 74 over’s in both the innings. Australia were able to play 184 over on the same pitch. The main reason Australia won is they have played according to conditions. We should no forget that there is a thin line between confidence and over confidence.
